Problem

This problem is getting wider and wider spread since LN came out. The extra CC does not come as a extra package-file that can be removed with Custard and that shows in your Launcher but it’s ‘glued’ to the Package file of the Sim itself.

Custard will show you, if a Sim has a CC like that, but only one such CC will be shown. It’s entirely possible that other CC comes along with those Sims.

Downloads that come like this can not be found in your Launcher! 

Identification in Custard

So far, I’ve seen skins (does not show in Custard), shoes, cloth, accessory and makeup come this way.

In Custard Sims like that, look like this:

Such a sim has a entry in SubTyp and instead of a empty thumbnail description, the type of the attached CC shows.

If you see a Sim that has only a faulty thumbnail description but an empty subtype, it’s only a reference to a download. The download itself is not included with the Sim. I’ve seen house like this as well.

Solution

You can get rid of CC like that by uninstalling the Sim that came with it.

If you have a lot of Sims installed, finding it can be a pain, so it’s probably best, not to install a Sim like that or make a note that it came with something.

As far as I found, only Sims have this problem. Households and Houses don’t. Because of this, the faulty party can always be found in your SavedSims folder.

Problem

Because of an error in one of the tools to make custom objects, some of them are faulty causing the Blue Lot Issue.

Blue lots have been getting scarcer but I do think that those items can crash your game now. Originally only package files were affected by this problem but some people thought it would be great idea to just convert them into Sims3Packs, assuming that would solve the problem. Well, it didn’t. What it did do is that now some of this files are floating around as Sims3Packs. Most of the original faulty package files are long since repaired but now the faulty ones can be found in the Exchange.

Identification in Custard

Custard does show them as faulty. They show as Corrupt (TXTC).

Solution

Do not install those downloads and do not re-upload. They can only be found in houses (cause they are always objects). If you absolutely want to use the house, remove the Download with Custard before installing the Sims3Pack.

I’m unsure if the FIX option in Custard can actually fix those downloads or not. Dashboard can fix the package files so it might be worth a try.

Problem

Some people change the thumbnails to present their Sim/house/household better. When they did this, they did something wrong (size for example).

Identification in Custard

Custard shows such images as Corrupt (not a DBPF).

Solution

Faulty thumbnails are not a problem if you install your Sim but please, don’t upload those. The Exchange doesn’t like them too much.

Problem

CAS Part (Clothing) & CAS Part (Accessory) have categories for age, gender and occasion.

Because of the different meshes (size, figure), CAS stuff should not be categorized for all outfit types or you will see all kinds of deformation on your Sims.

Clothing

Age

The following combinations are allowed (never enable clothing for babies)

• Toddlers
• Children
• Teens
• Young Adult / Adult
• Elder

Gender

Tops and Outfits should not be categorized for male and female. Bottoms and shoes are not as much of a problem but you might see broken ankles.

Categorizes

Clothing that is categorized for all is most often faulty as well. Who likes to go swimming in clothing or wear their PJs to a party. Categorizing is very individual and therefore there’s no right or wrong.

A problem are clothing that are categorized for pregnancy but lack the necessary mesh for it. Because of this, the pregnant Sim will never show a baby bump. Custard does not identify those.

Clothing that is categorized for naked means, that this can be worn while taking a shower and because of this, Sims take shower in clothing. I would not use these as well but there are a few tattoos or actual naked closed that are legibly categorized this way.

Hairstyles

The following combinations are allowed (never enable hairstyles  for babies)

•  Toddler
• Children
• Teen, Young Adult, Adult, Senior

If a senior hairstyle does not have it’s own file, there won’t be a white thumbnail to go with it.

Makeup

Make-up that is not categorized properly does not lead to severe errors. You might have a strange CAS picture or see a smudgy mouth.

There is a lot of makeup around that is categorized for babies but I’m unsure if it is an actual problem.

If you create makeup yourself, don’t categorizes it for babies but it’s probably not a reason to not use a existing download.

Identification in Custard

The third column in Custard tells you what they are categorized for. Custard does not show this as an error.

Custard uses abbreviation for age groups and gender:

• b = Baby
• p = toddler
• c = child
• t = teenager
• y = young adult
• a = adult

Problem

1. My Sims have long arms and legs. They look like monsters
   
2. My Babys are invisible
3. Cut neck, waist and feet
   
4. Toddlers and babies are stretched
   

Cause

Problems 1 – 3

The cause of this are clothing and hair that are categorized for the wrong age groups. There are many such downloads in the Exchange which you can download if you download a Sim or a household.

If you uninstall such a download, babies that were wearing the outfit become invisible.

Problem 4

This problem is a bit different and has nothing to do with bad cc but with missing animations. There are a few interactions in the game, that are available for toddlers where they shouldn’t be. Since the game is missing the prober animation for it, they use the ones for adults and stretch. This can also happen with animals.

The problem on the right side of the picture happens because babies and toddlers of inactive families are not really present in the world when they don’t have the focus. If you now zoom on these houses, the games sometimes messes up and displays them in this way.

Solution

Problems 1-3

1. These cloth need to be uninstalled through the launcher. Since the package files in the DCBackup folder that belong to these are not automatically deleted, I recommend to manually delete them as well. It’s not enough to only delete them from the DCBackup folder.
   To prevent getting badCC, use Custard before installing the files.

Problem 4

Toddlers

This is a bug that needs to be addressed by EA. Toddlers gets back to normal after they are done with the animation.

Babies

This is a simply display error that can be solved by restarting the game. Never ever take such a baby to CAS since this can crash your game.

Problem

The following clothing is in my game but I can’t find them in CAS or the launcher.

Cause

This dress by PeggySims contains the extra clothing.

They are wrongly categorized and don’t show in CAS cause it’s also categorized as hidden.

Solution

To get rid of the stuff, just delete the following file from your mods folder: peggyzone-sims3-f-Fclo0008-090812.package.

Unfortunately, these like to spread with Sims because of this issue: Downloads that are attached to Sims directly.

To check if you have them, you need either MasterController to turn off the clothing filter or use the cheat unlockOutfits on and then check CAS if they’re there.

Problem

I suddenly have blue (or black at night) lots instead of the actual buildings build there

Solution

This issue is caused by faulty custom content. You can read all about it here: Game Help:Sims 3 Blue Lots Issue

If your town has the issue and you saved your game, the town cannot be saved. Try restoring a backup game.

Since quite a few files got converted into Sims3packs, you will need to check those with Custard before you install them into your game. Find a list here: BAD CC: TXTC Fehler (Blaue Felder/ Blue Lots). There are probably more out there and you will need to find them in your Launcher and uninstall them. It might be possible that you have a fixed version if someone fixed them with the tools available before uploading but it’s better to be safe then sorry for this is a serious issue that can cost you your town.

I’m only listing sims3packs since the package files can easily be found and fixed with Delphy’s Dashboard. Dashboard has the ability to scan *.dbc files but it can only tell you if something faulty is inside, not fix it. If Dashboard finds something, you will need to locate the guilty party in your Launcher and uninstall from the installed content tab.

Saving your family

If you are still able to enter your house, you can try to save your family to the library and move them to a new town. You will loose all relationships with other families this way but it’s better than nothing.

Twallan’ Porter Mod might be able to save more than just your family AND keep the relationships intact, but I’m no expert on the mod, so you will need to try yourself.

Saving your Houses

Any house that has not turned into a blue lot, can still be saved to the library. Houses that are blue lots cannot be saved.

Problem

There are a lot of downloads around that are categorized for ages teens and up. We all know that teen sims are slightly smaller then the other age groups. This leads to errors with clothing and shoes.

You will see the following effects

Cut Ankles

Cut Waist

Cut Neck

For some downloads, the error is hardly visible for others they are plain obvious. It’s up to you if you want to get rid of them or not.

It seems that the Pets patch has borked most of the cc objects. This does not include hair or clothing and most deco items will be fine as well but all objects that have slots (for other objects or Sims) are most likely not usable anymore (some of the older stuff still seems to be).

Problem

When my sim takes a shower or a bath, they are wearing cloth

Cause

• If the Sims has a certain trait like never nude, they shower with their bathing suit on.
• A Custom Content creator has categorized the clothing for Naked. Because of this, it can happen that they wear that piece of clothing while showering/bathing
• The filter for the clothing was deactivated by either using the Cheat Unlock outfits or MasterController.

Solution

• Don’t have the cheat on all the time. Only turn it on if you need it, then turn it back off
• Uninstall the faulty download
• If the problem still exist after removing a faulty download (especially if the worn piece of clothing was created by EA), you need to reset the Sim’s clothing. To do so, choose Plan Outfit and set all clothing categories to a EA default. Let the Sim take a shower with each outfit and make sure it was properly reset.

Identification with Custard

Delphy’s Custard (oder auch Dashboard) shows this piece of clothing with Naked under Description. Don’t use those (although there are a few legit ones)

Mods that help with the issue

• Use MasterController to send the Sim to CAS in his naked stated (have him take a shower to get him there). You can then re-assign the correct naked clothing.

Introduction

Unfortunately some package files come inside the package file of a Sim, meaning that the only way to get rid of the download is to get rid of the Sim it came with. You will need to uninstall the Sim through your launcher or deleted from your SavedSims folder.

Sometimes you do want to keep the Sim, but not the cc it came with, so what can you do to keep the Sim ?

Method

There is a way for only Sims spread this way. Households do not. You will need to delete the Sim itself but you can save it either in a savegame or as a household to keep.

1. Backup all folders in the user data directory.
2. Go into CAS and select the Sim that has the skin/cc
3. Change it to something else
4. Share the Sim
5. Uninstall the other Sim from installed content and delete from downloads
6. The file can then be found in the export folder in the user file directory.
7. Install that file to have a new file in the SavedSims folder without the cc and find the Sim in CAS

If the Sim is wearing cloth in his nude state, this won’t work for you cannot change that state. To get rid of those, do the following:

1. Backup all folders in the user file directory.
2. Go into CAS and put all Sims you want to keep into a game
3. Share the house / Sim in edit town mode. You can make many one Sim households or just one with all your sim (or more depending on the number of Sims)
4. Save the game and close the it
5. Remove all Sims from your SavedSims folder and delete your cache files.
6. Restart the game to make sure that the cc is gone from your game. The sims can be found in the library (not CAS)

If you want to keep a Sim as a Sim file instead of a household, you will need the MasterController Mod by Twallan (NRaas) or use testingcheatsenabled true. Do all of the above and then:

1. Place the Sim you want to keep as Sim file into your game and use the Option Edit in CAS on the MasterController or shift-click on the Sim and choose Edit in CAS from there.
2. In CAS, share the Sim from there.
3. The file can then be found in the export folder in the user file directory.
4. Install that file to have a new file in the SavedSims folder without the cc and find the Sim in CAS

This method should work for hair, cloth, shoes etc. It should work for skins as well (they always come this way) but I did not try that.

Introduction

The Arezzo Bathroom CounterRight has the disadvantage to stuck to every Sim/Household/House you upload and has inflicted the Exchange and many fansites by now.

The creator of the counter has removed the it from her section and has made a new version that has no issues and can be used: Arezzo Bathroom CounterLeft.

I don’t know of any other issues with the counter other than uploading with everything. If anyone has different experiences, let me know.

Always check you downloads with Custard before installing (and uploads for that matter).

Details

There’s no way to distinguish between the good and the bad version in the launcher. Only the file in DCBackup fives you an indication on which one you have. If you downloaded from the creator, you should be ok cause she reacted pretty quickly.

In game the counter appears twice for both versions since you the whole counter contains a left and a right part. There’s only one object in the launcher itself.

Bad Version

Removing

Remarkable

A curious phenomenon with this counter can be seen in CAS. If you have the bad version, you will see a Store Icon for no facial hair

I do not believe that this has any negative influence but it will give you an indication that you have the counter in your game.

Problem

When i want to open CaST, it will never open and I get an endless message Materializing Materials

Cause

This problem is caused by faulty patterns.

Patterns that were created with CAP should not be converted into Package-Files since they can only be numbered correctly if they are installed through the launcher. You should also not merge such patterns together

The patterns are not faulty as such. If you install them through the launcher, they’ll work as intended. There are patterns that can be installed through the launcher that are also faulty.

Solution

1. Find the pattern and delete it
2. Delete your cache files.

Check all patterns you want to use as package files with S3Pe. Open the file and check if there are more than one IMG-Tag. If so, don’t use them as package files.
